LEED UP Lexington - April 18, Harshaw Trane

The Kentucky Chapter formed LEED UP events to better address the unique needs of Kentucky LEED practitioners. LEED UP is designed to share knowledge, best practices, bumps in the GBCI road and provide dialogue with peers. There are over 800 LEED Accredited Professionals in Kentucky alone. One of your colleagues is bound to have an answer or tip to an issue you may be struggling with on your project. You must be a LEED AP or LEED GA in order to attend a LEED UP. 

The LEED UP Event Schedule is:

11:30 AM to 11:45 AM: Networking

11:45 AM to 1:00 PM: Lunch provided with short "lessons learned" with plenty of time for questions and dialogue.

The discussion will be facilitated by Chapter leadership.  LEED UP Speakers and Topics include:

Gary Hisel/ Senior Design Manager, Gray Construction - LEED 2012 Changes: What you won't like and what you will.


  • Expanding Market sectors and simplifying usability of LEED.
  • Changing the technical content to increase the technical rigor of the building.
  • Credit Weightings that match the priorities of the LEED community.


Robert Lonneman/ Principle, KLH Engineers, PSC - "Energy Modeling Lessons Learned"...A demonstration of some of examples of LEED responses from USGBC for a LEED energy model submission and how they were addressed in an appeal.

Jonathan Ware/ Project Manager, Gray Construction

Farmland to Factories: New Construction Improving the Environment with LEED Sustainable Sites Credits:


  • SS 1 - Site Selection
  • SS 5.1 - Protect or Restore Habitat
  • SS 6.2 - Stormwater Design - Quality Control


If you are interested in participating as a speaker at a LEED UP, please email events@usgbckentucky.org with your name, the LEED topic you will be speaking on, and specific project experience with regards to your topic. This invitation is open to any LEED AP or GA with project experience.
